It’s that time of the month: DICE has released the February content for Battlefield 3 Premium members. This time however, the content is on the light side: all we get are 3 new dog tags, which you can see above. Luckily, the 3 dog tags are unlocked and available to all Premium members right now.
Recently, EA announced that there are almost , and that the service has so far generated over $100 million in additional revenue. In other words, DLC is big business…
Battlefield 3 Premium has been a huge cash cow for EA and DICE. EA has announced that Battlefield 3 Premium has 2.9 million subscribers, each who paid the $50 to $60 bucks for the Premium service, which includes free DLC and other goodies. The Battlefield 3 Premium service has earned EA $108 million in additional revenue from Battlefield 3, the company revealed to shareholders recently.
Back in November, EA revealed that . It seems that sales have been steady so far, with a million additional copies sold until now. Battlefield 3 has one last DLC, “End Game”, which is scheduled for release next month.

Battlefield 3 has been a very lucrative proposition for EA. Not only has the game sold millions and millions of copies, the publisher has revealed that Battlefield 3 Premium has sold 2 million subscriptions to date. Battlefield 3 Premium retails at $50 and gives players free and early access to all DLC, plus new assignments, double XP weekends, and more. Back in late July, EA announced that over , now that number has reached 2 million. And there’s plenty of incentive to get Premium: there are still two DLC packs waiting for release: next month’s Aftermath, and early next year we’ll get End Game.

is a series of content upgrades like solder camos and new assignments. The July content upgrade just got released for all Premium members, and it includes 4 weapon camos that can be unlocked by completing assignments + one camo for each faction as well. Judging by the assignments, it should be a piece of cake to unlock most of the new stuff. Here’s the full breakdown of the new content:

It seems that double XP weekends aren’t enough these days, so DICE is running a double XP week this time around. It’s live from July 2 to July 8 if you’re a Premium member, and from July 2-4 if you’re not a Premium member. In case you’re not familiar with the concept, double XP simply doubles the points you have earned at the end of the round, both the score and award score. Last week EA announced that .

Battlefield Premium is turning out the be quite popular, as EA revealed today that over 800,000 Battlefield 3 players have forked over the $50 to become Premium members. And that’s only after being just two weeks on the market, according to EA’s Patrick Soderlund, who spoke to . In case you’re not familiar with Battlefield Premium, it’s main feature is early access to DLC — which is also free. In addition, Premium members receive a whole bunch of perks, including double-XP weekends, dog tags, a special knife, and more.
“We’re actually only two weeks into it, so it’s a little early to tell how this is going to pay off. It certainly it looks very promising right now.” said Soderlund in the interview. Battlefield Premium has its many advantages, like extra content, double-XP weekends, dog tags, and more. Now there’s another bonus feature for premium members: get to play against DICE members on two servers today. PC players can look for the servers “Webhallen 01″ and “Real owning clan”, which will be populated by DICE members for a few hours later today.
PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 owners will get the same chance to play against DICE as well. For PlayStation 3 players, the time is tomorrow, June 27, between 17:00 CET and 20:00 CET, while Xbox 360 players will get to join on the 28th. Look for severs called “DICE GAME WITH DEV”.
For obvious reasons, expect the servers to be packed during that time.
EA just wrapped up their E3 press conference, revealing a whole bunch of games and some Battlefield 3 news.
