HackPack Tool : WARNING: untrusted versions of the following packages will be install
Ok this is about HackPack v1.5. It can be found here:
The install is quite simple.
Unzip then cd to the folder in terminal.
Then type chmod +x install
and then ./install
While installing, the script updates the tool and install various other libraries I suppose. While updating I am seeing various untrusted packages are about to be downloded which I cancelled..Please see below complete installation process and I highlighted the untrusted portion.

You installed it incorrectly. If you follow the directions as I have VERY specifically typed out its...
Move ALL files to desktop for your very first install... then cd Desktop, then chmod +x install, then ./install
When you do it like that it will find sbrpwn.
After your initial update you can just use the update feature, and to answer your question, there is nothing mallicious, or harmful, about anything in HackPack. Thats not my M.O.

I am not trying to point finger at anyone here just seeking some answers really. As a security conscious person (which we all are in this forum), I had to ask it.
you please explain what is the difference between moving all the files in Desktop and then cd Desktop vis a vis just unzipping and then cd to that unzipped folder please.
Many thanks

Yeah not a problem, the reason is painfully simple. Its just how I setup the script. I could modify it to cd to Desktop/Bl4ckS4b3r I suppose, but then again its just not how I originally wrote it. I understand the skepticism, but trust me--this is a toolkit I planned on just keeping for myself, and then later was asked by many to release. There is nothing that will harm your computer, or open it up for others, unless the programs themselves (LOIC, Ettercap, NMH, ect) do. My goal was to have the developers include it in BT6. If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

Ok thanks really for prompt response and thanks for sharing the script. I do have questions and will take this opportunity to ask. Now the question is if I just unzipped all the files in desktop and then chmod +x install file and then run ./install will I still get all the warning for untrusted packages being installed. And if the asnwer is 'yes' then why please? I hope if you do not mind me asking this.

Just raising it again this issue of untrusted packages being installed. Has anyone used this tool. If yes what is your opinion as I am not getting much response from Bl4cks4b3r?
I do like to use this tool but do not want to get my system open.

Its very simple, the toolkit is not &unsecure& in any way shape of form. How you decide to use backtrack might make you unsecure.

Good to see it finally getting out there.
I have not once had any problems with hackpack. Well, some problems but that was just simple bugs from the original release.
I don't know why it matters how you extract it, or where you extract it too, but if i were to take an educated guess, I would think it's because, that's how the creator made it.
and as for the messages, i'd imagine that there's some sort of process that all programs have to go through to be determined safe, and since this is still a new script, then it hasn't gone through all the channels it takes to be labeled safe.

Re: HackPack Tool : WARNING: untrusted versions of the following packages will be ins
Ok it's quite obvious to me that it's a great tool to use and I personally like to use it as well. Many thanks to Bl4cks4b3r for creating this tool.
Let me just to go back to what I initially asked: Please look at post #1.
All what I am saying when I was installing this HackPack tool I have see in my terminal this message&
WARNING: untrusted versions of the following packages will be installed!
I am just seeking an answer for this message. Why this tool Hackpack needs to install untrusted version of some packages?
Please note that this is not a dig any anyone really and I am thankful that Bl4cks4b3r took time to create this tool.
Cheers and have a good weekend.
