一篇好的PS是申请者的敲门砖，写作之前一定要对自我进行深度挖掘，真诚阐述，用简单精悍的语文呈现一个最具优势的自己。
申请动机+申请的学校与项目
PS的精髓在于将自己的motivation和Objective充分展现出来，它应该是personal and analytical,任何generalzation和空洞都需要避免，PS的关键在于用specific，personal details来展现你的个人魅力和强烈的motivation。
用specific details 来展现你的motivation很重要。这些specific details可以包括研究和工作经历、课程、跟你所感兴趣的领域的人的交流、你读的书、你参加的学术报告会，以及任何可以展现你为何选择并适合这个研究领域的原因。
总而言之，最忌讳出现虚话套话，真诚真实地阐述自己的motivation，接着就把话题引申至要申请的学校和program。
学习情况+科研(实习实践)经历+参加过对申请有所帮助的社会活动+特殊经历等的有效结合
这一部分是实实在在的将你过往突出的经历展现给招生委员会的地方，因此，你在这个部分呈现出什么内容，那么招生官面前就会呈现出一个什么样的你。
切记不要企图把你所有的经历都写进PS里，PS追求的不是广度，而是深度。
好的PS是深入挖掘一个或两个主题、时间或观点的细节。所以对于内容的选择非常重要，以下几点可以作为突破口：
1)一定要寻找那些跟你申请的program相关的经历，有paper的话一定要好好强调。
2)一定要找到一个能展现你独一无二personality的经历，intern和volunteer都可以，特别是去山区支教给予社会弱势群体的改变是非常好的素材。
3)一定要全面展现出你的能力，如果你只说自己的一段经历，这段经历应该能全面展现你各方面能力;如果你要说自己的多种经历，这些经历之间应该互为补充，比如去国外交换或者游学，给出事例证明你的科研能力，学习能力，social能力，语文能力，创新能力，领导能力，适应和独立能力等。
呼应开关+对申请的学校以及program的特殊情感+未来的打算
这部分也是很非常重要的，如果你对自己申请的学校和program的细节有所了解，那势必会给招生官一个很好的印象，有一种朋友的感觉。
要specific，不要光是拍马屁，这是招生官最忌讳看到的。你需要明确你的未来方向，至少为自己未来5~10年的事业做一个规划，而这个规划应该很适合你所申请的这个graduate program，那也正是你选择这个领域的原因，以及你将来可能给这个学校或国家能够带来贡献，不要太夸张，诚恳表达即可。

Personal Statement
My aspiration for finance can be traced back to my teenage years, when my father was fascinated with stock market and I bought stocks together with him for fun. When he purchased a new one, I would ask him the bid price and expected ask price, and then brainstormed how much we may possibly get.
Earning money by investment after ups and downs was a fantastic experience for me, and I came to realize that there exist rules and principles deeply rooted in finance theories and statistics, which drove me to further explore the field.
Now, through three-year systematic studies in economics and finance, my interest and passion have been fully exploited and I made up my mind to pursue a career in the field of finance.
The more I know, the more I want to know. In order to do further study and build a successful future career, I plan to go for advanced study in the United Kingdom, where the most cutting-edged researches and practices of financial analysis are being carried out.
Luckily, I believe that I am in possession of essential qualities for undertaking both advanced training and career development in finance and economics, such as the good control of English and an always-stay-discrete attitude. I believe with those characteristics, I will surely survive through twists and turns in the world of finance.
My undergraduate studies in economics have provided me with good academic foundations. Through studying fundamental theories in economics (including Advanced Mathematics (95%), Intermediate Microeconomics (87%), Macroeconomics (80%), Monetary Banking (83%), Development Economics (89%) and Econometrics (87%) with the using of Eviews software, which enables me to establish basic mathematical models to solve problems), I have mastered a basic understanding and a clear picture of Western Economics, Risk Management & Insurance, Finance, Financial Engineering, etc.
Benefiting from my strength in mathematics and effective learning, I enjoyed an upward trend in the academic performance, preparing myself to be a capable student with diligent studying style.
Since junior year, I began to focus on securities and futures. Supervised by my financial professor named Qingyuan Zhang who taught me Monetary Banking, I researched the stock index futures in western financial markets and its performance. Based on the research, I completed an essay (to be published in National Financial Journal in Nov. 2012) where I listed the operations of stock index futures investment in western capital markets and put forward my ideas about stock index futures investment in Chinese mainland markets.
Thanks to the research, I have mastered the methodology on how to approach a problem in a logical and analytical manner. In January 2013, I have participated in Hongkong Management Trainee Plan. I had been engaged in communication and arrangement works with Harry Ho-Director of Aviva and Andy Mak-Chief Investment Strategist of Aviva, analyzing the result of GSEC Marketing Competition Simulation Contest of each group by using relative software, participating in the discussion on fund mix choice, supervising the implementation of public projects and assisting in auditing the project last-term report and grade.
Besides academic excellence, I also tried to enhance my social communicative skills and leadership. For three years, I worked at student union of my university, in charge of organizing various campus activities such as music festival, arts gala, and cultural salon. I nurtured interpersonal communication skills, leading my team to complete the activity-launching tasks within limited time. I believe these skills are necessary for supporting my success in both the academic and social life in a new environment.

Personal Statement
My favourite song is Snail by Jay Chou. As the music goes, the little snail fights its way through jungles and thorns. Just like the snail, I may not be the brightest student, but I have always been especially proud of the dedication and fervor I possess for my study and work.
Under the earnest and tireless instruction from my parents, I was raised to be an independent girl. In junior middle school, I had been shipped off to a boarding-school, where I learned to take care of myself and get along well with people. Both of my parents are businesspeople, so I was exposed to the commercial world at a very early age.
Being engaged in various commercial activities, I had chance to meet with people from all walks of life. This amazing business circle holds great appeal to me. Tracking back from my high days when I chose my college entrance wills, I was utterly ruthless in my determination to write down finance as my solemn choice.
Learning finance gives me a world of satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment. The more I learn, the more fulfilled I feel. It is the quest for knowledge and the challenge of learning that motivates me to pursue a master degree in International Economics, Banking and Finance at the esteemed Cardiff University.
I have received rigorous training at United International College (UIC), a school that is jointly founded by Beijing Normal University and Hong Kong Baptist University.
The undergraduate curriculum has allowed me to study in an English environment because all the courses are taught in English by elite professors all over the world. Meanwhile, the four-year study has equipped me with a systematic knowledge pool of finance, including Principles of Accounting, Information Technology, Applied Econometrics and Financial Management.
After four years of intense study, I understood that finance is the explanation of rational human behavior reflected in the financial markets. UIC strictly follows the evaluation method of Hong Kong Baptist University, that is to say, only 10% students can obtain A or A-.
However, because of my hard work, I still got an A on Principles of Accounting and Information Technology. Delving into the theoretical aspect of the financial world lays the corner stone of my intension to future study in finance.
Driven by my strong desire to immerse into a more international atmosphere, I attended a summer program at Hong Kong Baptist University to study the Human Love and Sex.
This one month broadens my horizon in this particular area, allowed me to view finance from a different perspective and inspired me to educate myself on an international scale.
In order to gain more insight about finance and assurance for myself, I have seized a lot of opportunities to enhance my professional skills. In the summer of 2010, I was more than fortunate to join the marketing team of the Global Education and Technology Group Dongguan Branch.
The first time I sold products to a customer, the first time I was rejected by a customer, the first time I made a bargain&so many first times that enabled me to apply what I have learned at school into practice.
It took patience and perseverance to make hundreds of cold calls to persuade customers. It was such tenacity that helped me get through customers& complaints and incomprehension. I studied consumer psychology to arouse customers& interests in our products.
During my internship, I soon realized that details determine success or failure. Thus, I treated my customers with utmost carefulness and attention. Step by step, I acquired outstanding sales skill to impress customers. This internship uplifted my ability to take a correct attitude towards study and work. In order to succeed, I have to take initiative in everything.
In addition to theoretic and practical knowledge I gained from school and society, I also devote much of my time into philanthropic activities. My father, a member of the Lions Clubs International always taught me to give back to society.
Abiding by his instruction, I started my involvement in volunteer work in freshman year to become a tutor for impoverished students with United Innovation Charity Club. Devoted much of my time to help the pupils at Jinfeng Elementary school, I found the secret recipe of soul satisfaction.
Following down this track, I spontaneously organized a volunteer activity to help cerebral palsy (CP) children. Looking into the innocent eyes of these special children, I felt the urge to lend a helping hand to them in their daily life.
I believe generous in giving help is one of the most cardinal characters a financier must possess and I had already made up my mind to become a loving and caring city woman.
I have long admired your esteemed university for its significant achievements in the teaching and research of finance. Your program of International Economics, Banking and Finance, with its well-structured curriculum, highly-productive faculty as well as a multitude of real-world projects matches my academic background and interest perfectly.
I hope to work in a world-class financial institution or a transnational enterprise after the completion of my master program.
