For FreeBSD virtual machines, you manually install or upgrade VMware Tools by using the command line.
Install the latest version of VMware Tools to enhance the performance of the virtual machine's guest operating system and improve virtual machine management. When you power on a virtual machine, if a new version of VMware Tools is available, you see a notification in the status bar of the guest operating system.
Prerequisites
Power on the virtual machine.
Verify that the guest operating system is running.
Because the VMware Tools installer is written in Perl, verify that Perl is installed in the guest operating system.
For vSphere virtual machines, to determine whether you have the latest version of VMware Tools, in the vSphere Client inventory, select the virtual machine and click the Summary tab.
1Select the menu command to mount the VMware Tools virtual disc on the guest operating system.

2In the virtual machine, log in to the guest operating system as root and open a terminal window.
3If the distribution does not automatically mount CD-ROMs, mount the VMware Tools virtual CD-ROM image.
For example, type mount /cdrom.
4Change to a working directory (for example, /tmp).
5Untar the VMware Tools tar file.
tar zxpf /cdrom/vmware-freebsd-tools.tar.gz
6If the distribution does not use automounting, unmount the VMware Tools virtual CD-ROM image.
umount /cdrom
7Run the installer and configure VMware Tools.
cd vmware-tools-distrib
./vmware-install.pl
Usually, the vmware-config-tools.pl configuration file runs after the installer file finishes running.
8Respond to the prompts by pressing Enter to accept the default values, if appropriate for your configuration.
9Follow the instructions at the end of the script.
Depending on the features you use, these instructions can include restarting the X session, restarting networking, logging in again, and starting the VMware User process. You can alternatively reboot the guest operating system to accomplish all these tasks.
If you are using vCenter Server, the VMware Tools label on the Summary tab changes to OK.
What to do next
(Recommended) If you upgraded VMware Tools as part of a vSphere upgrade, next upgrade to the newest virtual hardware version available for the virtual machine.安装Vware tools

安装过程没有一点问题。
要注意虚拟机和操作系统，要么是操作系统太新了，要么就是虚拟机太老了，我安装了fedora 25，fedora26，而使用的虚拟机是10.0 ，安装vware tools时总是提示各种问题，如g路径不对，内核路径不对，你解决了这些问题，还有一些问题出现，大家不要试了，那个vmware tools老了，解决不了
，用网上一些方法都没解决！！！！！！！！！！！！！！！！！！！！！！！

freebsb的安装方法与LINUX应该是一样的Linux VMware tools安装步骤：　　（1） 在CD-ROM虚拟光驱中选择使用ISO镜像，找到VMWARE TOOLS 安装文件，如D:\VMware\VMware Workstation\Programs\linux.iso 　　（2） 以ROOT身份进入LINUX 　　（3） 进入linux新建一个终端，输入 /sbin/telinit 3 进入纯文本模式,然后在纯文本模式下再次用root身份登陆 　　（4）退出到windows,在虚拟机菜单栏中点击 虚拟机-& 安装 VMWARE TOOLS 子菜单,会弹出对话框，点击&确认& 安装 　　（5 ）挂载光驱 mount /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom （注意命令中输入的空格）这时，你的linux.iso里面的文件就相当于windows光盘里面的文件了 　　（6） 使用 cd /mnt/cdrom 进入光驱，输入ls命令你会查看到有个*.tar.gz格式的文件（如vmware-linux-tools.tar.gz），然后输入命令CP vmware-linux-tools /tmp/将它复制到/tmp/目录下 　　（7）输入命令 cd /tmp 进入/tmp目录 　　（8）输入命令tar zxf vmware-linux-tools.tar.gz 将刚刚复制的vmware-linux-tools.tar.gz 解压，默认解压到vmware-linux-tools目录下（与文件名同名）此时就会多出一个命名为vmware-linux-tools文件夹，这里和windows 里面的解压结果一样。 　　（9）输入命令 cd vmware-linux-tools 进入解压后的目录 　　（10） 输入命令 ./*.pl 运行安装VMware tools （*.pl文件在前面有提过） 　　（11）在运行安装过程中，它会一步一步的有问题提出要你回应，此过程中，你只要见到问题后面显示[yes]、[no]、[yes/no]的都输入yes，然后回车,其他的问题后面不管[ ]里面是什么直接回车就好，不要输入。 　　（12）最后它会输出1——15个分辨率让你输入数字选择，根据你的显示器来选择分辨率吧 　　（13）好了，安装完成，输入命令 startx 回到linux图像界面吧。
